Save Moseley Road Baths
• We have over 80 people on our mailing list, our MySpace website (www.myspace.com/moseleyrdpool) has had over 1,100 views, we have had articles and letters printed in the local press as well as receiving support from other swimming pool campaigns.
• A gig has been organised for the 28th April at the Custard Factory with all acts playing for free. It is open to all ages and will raise funds for the campaign.
• We have received a grant from B:CEN to produce a booklet outlining the case for two pools which will be presented to the Council and local groups.
• Tours of the building have been a great success. Places have booked up swiftly and feedback has been excellent.
• We held a stall at the recent ‘Balti in the Park’ and gathered loads of signatures on our petition. More stalls are planned locally.
• We are urging schools, community groups and the Council to begin planning events to mark the building’s Centenary this October.
What you can do
Meetings are open to everyone who wants to see both pools reopened and maintained under public ownership and who wants the historical and architectural aspects of the baths to be preserved. We are also interested in finding uses for unused space in the building.
I can state categorically that no meeting has ever touched on the subject of tin-pot dictatorships, but that they are all overwhelmingly positive!
However big or small a contribution you are able to make, be it signing a petition, attending the gig, writing to Councillors, newspapers and magazines, or even making that long overdue trip to the pool with the kids (if you can get in!), it all counts towards supporting a fantastic facility we should all be extremely proud of.
