Birmingham Design Festival
DREAM IT. MAKE IT. Artwork created for Birmingham’s first design festival and graphic exhibition.
2018 sees the launch of the first ‘Birmingham Design Festival’. I was invited to take part in the graphic exhibition taking place in the festival’s graphic design district showcasing the festival theme - Forward Thinking.
36 designers, artists and illustrators from Birmingham and the wider region have come together to produce artwork celebrating how design will move forward and shape the future. The exhibition brief only had one rule, to keep within the brand colours; green, blue and red.
I created two pieces, designed to sit next to each other called DREAM IT. MAKE IT. Printed at A1 size, both pieces will form a single landscape print for exhibition, while smaller individual A2 prints will be available for purchase. View my work in progress images over on the Birmingham Design Festival Blog with pencil sketches of the initial concept and design.
The exhibition will take place in Medicine Bakery and Gallery on New Street. Medicine is an artisan bakery, kitchen and gallery housed in a 2,200 sq ft first floor Victorian space on Birmingham’s prominent New Street, previously home to the Royal Society of Birmingham Artists. It finds its niche through a carefully curated menu of ethical products and artisan bakes, whilst offering a daily fix of cultural inspiration in an environment which promotes a debate about art and culture.
