Peony Passion, the 1.65m tall sun bear sculpture designed and painted for The Big Sleuth art trail, raises £8000 at auction.
From design to completion my Big Sleuth journey has been incredibly rewarding. A BBC interview and a meeting with my bear's sponsor, Catalyst Corporate Finance, have been the highlights of my experience, and with my design featured across Big Sleuth merchandise, I'm delighted to have taken part in the project to raise money for Birmingham Children's Hospital Charity.
On Thursday evening The Big Sleuth came to an end with Peony Passion receiving the second highest bid of the evening contributing £8000 towards a grand total of £257,300 for the charity. Funds raised from the sale of the bears at auction will fund life-changing initiatives to make a child’s stay in hospital that bit more bear-able.
Louise McCathie, Director of Fundraising at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust said:
