This Summer you may have seen a parliament of Owls dotted across the city of Birmingham. Organised by Wild in Art the initiative asks artists from across the region to submit designs to fully customise a 5ft fibreglass owl. Following an exhibition of over a hundred owls across the city, the owls are then auctioned to raise money for Birmingham Children's Hospital.
Choosing a 'Night Owl' theme using acrylics I painted from top to toe, colours running from night to day. Completed at the base with a forest scene housing a number of small forest animals.
Thanks to everyone that visited and donated to Birmingham Children's Hospital. There will be one more opportunity to see all the owls together at the Farewell Weekend on Saturday 10th October - Sunday 11th October. Tickets are available from the The Big Hoot website.
If you'd like to get your hands on one of the owls grab a ticket to the auction taking place on Thursday 15th October at ThinkTank, Birmingham. The Wild in Art team are expecting owls to start selling from between £3,000 and £5,000. If this is a little out of your price range, don't fear, there's a Big Hoot Shop selling a range of merchandise from figurines to tea towels and tote bags.
