Outdoor Art Collaboration
For Eye Candy Festival – a celebration of visual pop culture.
Eye Candy Festival commissioned us to decorate ‘Unity House’ a prominent derelict Victorian building sat at the heart of Southside Birmingham.
Working with fellow illustrators Vicky Newman and Louise Brangwin we chose to tell the story of the building’s past from the Victorian era through to the 1980’s. Producing a series of 12 illustrations we took four panels each. Working within tight timescales and quite stringent rules for artwork application and removal we decided to print our illustrations using PVC vinyl. Easy to install and remove on demand we hope the vinyls will not only survive and outlive the duration of the Festival but call to mind the buildings future.
More imagery and detail about our rationale and my fellow collaborators on the Unity House Illustrations blog.
